Gum Surgeries

Gingival flap surgery is a type of gum procedure. The gums are separated from the teeth and folded back temporarily. Gum surgery indicates to reduce the depth of gum pockets around teeth that have not healed well after deep cleaning. Surgery involves lifting gums back and allows better visualization of deposits on the teeth and hence makes it easier to obtain thorough debridement. The goal of the surgery is to reduce the gum pockets down to a level that is easier for patient as well as dentist to keep the area clean.

It may be recommended for people with moderate or advanced periodontitis. Usually, a treatment that doesn't involve surgery is done first. This is called scaling and root planning. If this treatment does not eliminate the gum infection, gingival flap surgery may be used. It also may be done along with another procedure known as osseous (bone) surgery.

Scaling

Dentist will clean your teeth. They may use different tools like hand scalars or ultrasonic scalars to loose and remove deposits from the teeth. When the gingivitis is left untreated, it can spread to the bone which known as periodontitis, in that case dentist will advise you to go for deep cleaning with or without root planing depending on the severity of gums disease.

Depth of the gum tissue between the teeth and gums are called pockets. When it is more than 5 mm or more, your dentist might prescribe a deep cleaning with root planing. Dentist will use a scaling instrument to remove plaque and tarter from the surface or the roots. Which include smoothing of the root surface and removal of any infected tooth structure. Antibiotics may be prescribed to boost immune system to combat the bacterial infection in gum tissue.

Teeth Whitening

Bleaching or teeth whitening is a procedure which involves lightening of the color of a tooth through the application of a chemical agent to oxidize the organic pigmentation in the tooth. Teeth Whitening is among the most popular cosmetic dental procedures because it can greatly improve how your teeth look. Teeth Whitening is not a one-time procedure. It will need to be repeated from time to time if you want to maintain the brighter color.

Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment (RCT or endodontics) is needed when blood or nerve supply of the tooth (known as pulp of tooth) is infected because of decay (cavity) or trauma.

If the pulp becomes infected, the infection may spread through the root canal system of the tooth. This may eventually lead to an abscess. An abscess is an inflamed area in which pus collects and can cause swelling of the tissues around the tooth. If RCT is not carried out, the infection will spread and the tooth may need to be taken out.

Correction Of Malaligned Teeth

Orthodontics involves correcting teeth that are badly positioned, crooked or overcrowded, as well as closing gaps between teeth and correcting bites. This is done using orthodontic braces which move the teeth into the correct positions and alignment.

The professionals at Murthy dental clinic are highly qualified and equipped with latest technology to diagnose and treat the toothache. After thorough clinical assessment aided by X ray examinations, diagnosis of toothache is established and the treatment is rendered to alleviate the tooth pain.

Dentures Treatment

A denture is a removable appliance to replace one more missing teeth. There are two broad categories of dentures: Partial denture and complete denture. As the name suggests, Complete dentures replace all the missing teeth whereas partial dentures replace one or more missing teeth with some teeth still remaining in the oral cavity.

Laser Gum Surgeries

In periodontal laser therapy, removal of the inflamed gum tissue from around the root of the tooth is performed. When the infected tissue is removed and the root is exposed, the root scaling begins.

This involves scraping off the calculus and plaque built up below the gum line and around the root. The area between the gum and the root can then regenerate during the healing process.
